Habit : A big deciduous tree. Leaves : Opposite, elliptic, obovate, apex rounded or acute, stipules large, interpetiolar, pink caducous. Inflorescence : Globose heads. Flowers : Greenish yellow, fragrant, peduncle with 2 small leaves at the base. Calyx funnel-shaped. Corolla funnel-shaped, lobes 5, recurved. Stamens 5. Ovary 2-celled, style white, exserted. Fruit : Capsular, close together in heads, of 2 dehiscent cocci, bluntly 10-ribbed, seeds many, winged. Flowering and Fruiting Time : March-August Significance : The bark is used for medicinal purposes and wood is good for construction.
