Habit : A large tree. Leaves : Imparipinnate, leaflets 3-11, ovate acute, serrate, oblique. Flowers : Fragrant, lilac, in long axillary panicles, staminal tube purple. Fruit : Drupe ellipsoid, 4-seeded. Flowering and Fruiting Time : April-May Significance : It is considered to have deobstruent, resolvent and alexipharmic properties. The flowers and leaves are applied as a poultice to relieve nervous headaches. The juice of the leaves, administered internally, is said to be anthelminthic, antilithic, diuretic, and emmenagogue, and is thought to relieve cold swellings.
