Habit : A large deciduous tree. Leaves : Opposite, distant, bipinnate, leaflets oblong-rhomboid, the terminal larger. Inflorescence : Many-flowered terminal panicles. Flowers : Violet-blue in colour, calyx small, 5-toothed. Corolla campanulate, tube slender and curved below, inflated above, limb bilipped. Stamens 4, didynamous, staminode as long as the stamens, club-shaped at the apex. Ovary superior, ovules many, style short, stigma bilobed. Fruit : Capsule oblong, ovate or rounded and woody. Flowering and Fruiting Time : March-April. Significance : Found in residential areas.
