Showy Spider Lily is a bulb-forming perennial plant. Leaves are strap-shaped, up to 50 cm long and 7.5-10 cm across, narrowing to a leaf-stalk below. Leaves are broader than those of Beach Spider Lily, which are only 4-5 cm broad. Flowers are borne in dense umbels atop stout flowering stems. One umbel can produce as many as 20 flowers. Flowers are white with a slight greenish tinge, the tepals are curled backwards at flowering time. The flower tube is 7.5-10 cm long, shorter than that of Beach Spider Lily, which are 14-18 cm long. Showy Spider Lily is native to Bahamas, Cuba, widely cultivated in the Tropical world.
