Habit : An aquatic herb. Leaves : Smooth-textured green speckled leaves, top green, underside purple Flowers : Flowers in deep violet-purple to wine red flowers, cup-like shape changing to stellate, very sweet fragrance. Flowering and Fruiting Time : November - January Significance : Viviparous variety. It is used as an ornamental plant because of its spectacular flowers, and is most commonly used for the traditional and cultural festivals in Sri Lanka.
