Habit : A tall, handsome bamboo, unarmed grass. Stem : Polished, bright green or yellow or mixture of two, striped. Leaves : Linear-lanceolate,petiolate, leaflets 1-3.5 x 0.4-1.7 cm, elliptic-oblong or obovate-oblong, glaucous-green, pubescen6-8 nerved, pointed with twisted tips, leaf sheaths striate, slightly hairy, ligule short, ciliate. Inflorescence : Panicles Flowers : Panicles large, leafy, spikelets in bracteates clusters of 3-10. Involucral glumes 1-2, ovate, acute, empty, floral glumes 6-10. Larger than 1, imperfect flower above, stamens 6, style long, hairy, stigmas 3, plumose. Flowering and Fruiting Time : After rains Significance : Split stems are made into mats and baskets.
