Habit : A much-branched shrub. Leaves : Paripinnate, leaflets 8-12 pairs, each pair with an erect, linear gland between them, oblong, obovate, obtuse or emarginated, mucronate, base rounded, stipules large, leafy, obliquely cordate, reflexed. Inflorescence : Axillary corymbose racemes. Flowers : Large, showy, yellow, bracteates, bracts ovate. Calyx segments concave, petals 5, long-clawed, crisp-margined, veined with orange. Stamens 10, the 3 upper sterile. Fruit : Pods flat, thin, papery, oblong, obtuse, depressed between the seeds. Flowering and Fruiting Time : All round the year. Significance : The seeds are used in ophthalmia. The bark is very useful in tanning.
